MOFAT
is a blues party !
The movement, energy and connection of blues is a fundamental element
to any goog time. Whether it is the sparkling minor 7ths or the adrenalized,
accessorized, augmented 8-12-32 bar
progressions. MOFAT plays a ballsy set. With "Live Out Loud"
a set that is infectious and rythmatic Blues Punk. Heavy Blues that
is a grinding load on your bones and Blues Billy that will
give a jolt straight to the core.
As the newly formed project MOFAT employs a cast of characters that
are uniquely perfect. Martin Vanlemberghe howls with his blues harp.
An accomplished jazz drummer in many projects.
In MOFAT he accompanies, accessorizes and commands the stage. Sylvain
NoName is a funny cat, probably the smartest of all of us and has a
sweet tooth for fine basses. Sylvain bridges
the gap between punk and blues effortlessly, giving MOFAT a shine that
thumps when it hits the floor. Franz "the kid"... there is
not enough sedatives in the world to contain his enthusiasm.
Playing in many bands, music is his life and Franz is the sweaty heartbeat
of MOFAT.
That leaves Jake Jimmy Kenny "JJK" founder and composer of
the all original music MOFAT breaths to live. Born out of rural poverty
and raised in the 70's taking any and all jobs offered to
make it out. The first exposure to the blues was a passing TV show.
Asking his grandmother, a woman whom spent her youth playing piano in
illegal bars during prohibition, what type of
music that was?" She knew, and she gave him 2 tapes, Muddy Waters
and Howlin Wolf. The next step was pawning a chainsaw for 300 dollars
and buying a Gibson Les Paul, while his
sister asked people on the street for money to buy the case. JJK, his
youth and life has been a series of experiences to put into blues songs
and more. Playing an instrument gives a clarity
to chaos, hope in hopeless situations. Blues, like all genres of music,
all forms of Art, has the power to endure and transcend what is endured.
It is such a privilege to have the opportunity to play !
MOfAT being the latest project the band hope to see you for the party!
